Festool Cordless drill C12 NiCd 1.3 Ah (Model No.: 564178)

Drilling is fun! Especially when you are using an over-engineered Festool drill.

THE WORLD FIRST BRUSHLESS, CORDLESS, VARIABLE SPEED DRILL!!!

This is a FestoolJunkie must have item.

The C12 offers all the power you need in everyday woodworking scenarios. The C12 will smoke most "domestic" 14.4v drills; and allow you to get into tight spots with no problem. The drill is under 7" with the CentroTec chuck from front to back, and just under 9" top to bottom. The drill also comes with a Jacobs style chuck that allows for 1/2" bits.

Lightweight and powerful all at the same time. The C12's weight on average is a pound less than most cordless drills in this class on the market. Look at it this way, if you drive 300 screws a day, that's 300 pounds less a day you are holding or lifting.

21 torque settings allow the most discriminant woodworker the finesse to carry out any task with NO FEAR. The revolutionary C12 cordless drill with its brushless EC-Tec motor offers the best weight to power ratio in the market. Increasing the amp-hour (Ah) value of the battery does not increase power, only the run time.

This battery is the smallest and lightest option. The drill with battery weighs 3 lbs. 6.8 oz. The re-charge time of 25 minutes is the fastest one of all the available batteries. The trade off compared to the other available batteries is, that it offers the lowest run time with about 240 screws per charge and the shortest life span, as the battery life depends on charging cycles.

Cordless drill C12 NiCd 1.3 Ah is best buy for any woodworking shop and utility drill. Achtung Dude! Gotta have one of these German made tools with a 3 year warranty; this will be the last cordless drill you ever buy.

Other junkies had this to say:

I've had this drill for a couple of weeks now and have spent quite a bit of time with it. I absolutely love it and have forgotten about the price.

I build allot of furniture and have always been challenged with getting guide rail screws installed in tight places. When I saw the right angle and eccentric chucks were available for this drill I had to have it. I've also been annoyed in the past with dead batteries on my 14.4 Volt drill and how they always seem to die at the worst possible time.

When I first picked up this drill it felt awkward in my hand due to the short length and how the battery stretches across the bottom. After using it for 10 minutes I've gotten used to it and now find my Dewalt to feel awkward and clumsy. The Dewalt will be going up for sale shortly.

I spent allot of time trying to figure out if I should buy the 1.3Ah, 2.4AH or the 3.0Ah batteries. Before buying the drill I Kinda wished Festool made a kit with one 1.3Ah battery and one 3.0Ah battery. After using the drill I am glad I bought the 1.3Ahr batteries and am surprised at just how long the batteries last between charges. I let a neighbor borrow the drill to bore holes for electrical using spade bits and he said the batteries outlasted his brand new 18Volt Dewalt and the Festool was able to drill in tighter spots. The fact the charger charged the batteries in 25 minutes meant he was never stuck waiting for a battery to charge before resuming his work. I have call display so I can ignore his constant calls to borrow the drill ;)

I also really like the Centrotec Fast Fix chuck and for that matter how all the chucks attach to the drill. I've been able to load up the Fast Fix chuck with a scrwdriver bit and the Jacob's chuck with a drill bit and have no problems swapping between chucks quickly to install screws in predrilled holes.

If you buy the drill get the kit. You won't regret spending the extra $115
